It was a warm winter day, they were both on the beach, shoulder to shoulder contemplating the sun, everyone in his own unseen universe. She was gazing into the waves and the golden reflection it brought with it, she stood up, barefoot, stepped into the sand so she could feel every particle touching the surface of her sole. The sand was ardent, but so was her soul, burning and vibrant.
She lifted her head up towards the sun rays, took a deep breath, rejoiced the fact that she is alive, able to experiment this moment, mindfully and wholly. She turned to him, glared for a second and said:
"I like to be remembered as someone that is full of life, I want to be a safe place for people, a home where everyone can be exactly who they are...". She wanted to continue talking but was afraid he might not understand what she was saying.
He looked at her without saying one word but he could assimilate exactly what she was saying because deep down she really felt like home to him.
At this point, the sun was touching the sea and life was dripping from her bones, "I sense that I'm a very sensual person, I like to feel things deeply, to experiment places and situations differently that others, more intensely as if there is another side of the story that only I can witness. I sometimes feel lonely when it comes to this feeling, I don't believe much people live what I live. Ugh... There are days where I feel home in every inch of the spaces I fill, and other days I get this strong burst of not belonging anywhere." She posed, reflected on what she was about to utter and proceeded; " In this life we will carry incredible sorrow and grief and we will be surrounded by breathless joy, there will be normal days and exciting moments, we will feel extremely confident one day and hit rock bottom the next. The ever changing nature of our emotions will leave our hearts stretch- marked yet resilient, brave and wise."
"You speak so little for someone who has a volcano erupting from their chest".
"Beautiful things don't beg to be seen or heard, they just exist, calmly and quietly."
He stood there speechless, what was he going to say? he thought of her as a creature outside this world that we know, a part of him was curios to dive deeper in her head but another part was afraid he might not understand the depth of her feelings and the complexity of her being.
He has always appreciated the life that bloomed from her presence, she felt familiar, as if his soul and hers have encountered each other long ago. Time has stopped for a second, this is a precious moment, a little parenthesis in eternity nobody but them ran into. He felt dumb however, because so many times he had the universe between his finger tips and he didn't even notice it.
